SOMMELIER

Sommelier Nguyễn Thanh Dung is one of Vietnam’s pioneering sommeliers and the first Vietnamese female sommelier to achieve outstanding results on the national and regional stage.

With over 13 years of experience in wine, gastronomy and restaurant management, she has trained thousands of students and successfully organised hundreds of wine dinners, wine tastings and dining etiquette events across the country.

With a multidisciplinary and international academic background, she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Finance and Banking from the National Economics University (NEU), then pursued a Master’s in Hotel and Restaurant Management at the Swiss Hotel Management School (SHMS) in Leysin, Switzerland, graduating in the Top 3 of her class. She subsequently completed an MBA in Wine Marketing & Management at INSEEC Bordeaux, France.

In 2016, she won the title of Best Sommelier of Vietnam in French Wines and placed Third at the Best Sommelier of Asia in French Wines competition, also receiving the Trophy for the most outstanding candidate in the Provence wine category. Throughout her career, she has worked alongside Michelin-starred chefs in Switzerland, France and Vietnam.

She currently serves as Director of Marketing & Head of Sommelier at WINECELLAR.vn, and is the Brand Ambassador for Riedel in Vietnam. With deep expertise and a passion for spreading wine culture, she is recognised as one of the most influential figures in Vietnam’s wine and dining community.

Through her articles on Ngonista, she aims to share the fascinating stories behind each glass of wine — from history and culture to the art of tasting and food pairing.
